52nd Annual Monument Lighting

Kick off the holiday season with the 52nd anniversary of the Monument Lighting in Mount Vernon Place, presented by the Mount Vernon Place Conservancy. Illuminating the historic Washington Monument is a holiday tradition. The night includes caroling, food and good cheer. Fireworks cap the evening marking the official start of the holiday season.

BRUSH Mural Fest Festival Celebration

BRUSH Mural Fest is Baltimore's hyper-local mural festival created for artists, by artists. BRUSH is proud to present five of Baltimore’s most talented female and non-binary teams made up of nine Pro muralists and four Rising Stars (emerging artists mentored by the Pros) joining together to paint, educate, and inspire through five murals installed across the city.


Join the final event where we'll have an artist market, live music, and family-friendly art activities! BRUSH Mural Fest culminates in a day of outdoor festivities at Lexington Market Plaza.

  • The celebration event will be complete with opening remarks from the event organizers, live music by Brandon Woody + UPENDO plus a set by DJ Blaqstarr. There will also be family friendly art activities, and an Artist Market to be produced in collaboration with, and managed by, BLK ASS Flea Mkt.

  • Attendees will have the opportunity to learn from talented artists, participate in community art-making activities, and explore a diverse array of unique and meaningful artworks available for purchase at the market.

  • Festival attendees will be encouraged to use vendors inside Lexington Market for food and beverage. Bathrooms are also available inside the market.

  • BRUSH is a rain or shine event (activities will be moved indoors in the event of rain. Announcements will be made 24 hours prior to event). Follow on Instagram @brushmuralfest to stay up to date.

  • The event is free. You do not need to register to attend but if you want to receive notifications and updates, we recommend doing so.

In addition to the big day on the 21st, we've got a week of free events leading up to the celebration, that might be of interest to you:

  • Monday 10/16 - MURALIST TALKS - come hear from all the artists involved at BRUSH fest as we talk about our process and designs

  • Tuesday 10/17 - PUBLIC ART PANEL DISCUSSION - we've invited a group of outstanding industry leaders to discuss their views on the impact of public art

  • Wednesday 10/18 - BUSINESS WORKSHOP - a workshop on how to confidently charge your value as a creative entrepreneur

  • Wednesday 10/19 - HAPPY HOUR - it wouldn't be a festival without a good old Happy Hour to come together and have a few drinks while listening to some fun tunes

Festival on the Hill

Festival on the Hill

Festival on the Hill is Bolton Hill’s premier block party held every autumn for more than 65 years. Come on out for food, drink, music, vendors, and if you’re a kid, the Kid Zone. Open to all. This year’s Festival on the Hill will take place on Saturday, October 7, 2023.

  • Food and drink. Local restaurants Brass Tap, CookHouse, and the Tilted Row plan to provide food or drinks. Festival favorites chili, tacos in a bag, hot dogs, and brownies to be provided by churches and schools. Booths run by volunteers with oysters, shrimp, soup, jerk chicken, soda, beer, and wine will round out the possibilities.

  • Activities. An assortment of entertainment will be available and various vendors will be on hand.

  • Greater neighborhood. Many neighborhoods and local organizations comprise the greater Bolton Hill community and have been or plan to be on hand.

Join us for a community cleanup! We’ll be cleaning tree wells, picking up trash and removing bulk trash for the North Avenue corridor (Howard Street to Calvert) in preparation for Artscape.

We will meet at 9AM in Graffiti Alley behind Motor House at 120 W North Avenue.
